Intersectionality

Whereas diversity is often all about ticking boxes, intersectionality concerns the complex interplay of the different intersections that we all have in us. Besides gender, our cultural background, class, physical disability and sexual orientation can form a collection of intersections. However, some of these intersections are subject to more repression or exclusion than others. Can raising awareness of the notion of intersectionality help make the museum a more accessible, safer and more recognisable place for more people?

Several experts in this area shared their practical knowledge and experience with you during this afternoon, giving us the opportunity of investigating the theory of intersectionality together and transposing it into the cultural field.
